The summer passenger tire Nokian Hakka i3 is designed for small and medium-sized passenger cars. However, this did not prevent the Finnish tire manufacturers from applying a number of design solutions in it that are characteristic of tires belonging to the Ultra High Performance category. As a result, it was possible to create a tire that provides a high level of safety when driving at speeds over 200 km/h, while being relatively affordable.
This was largely achieved thanks to the use of an asymmetric directional tread pattern, without which no modern high-quality tire is conceivable. Its tread is divided into two parts, each of which provides the best performance in a certain driving mode - the outer one when passing turns or making sharp maneuvers, and the inner one when driving in a straight line.
The only thing that unites both parts of the Nokian Hakka i3 tread pattern is the drainage system. Thanks to a thoughtful design that takes into account many nuances, it stands out not only for its excellent performance but also for its extended functionality. The walls of the water drainage grooves are equipped with special depressions that significantly reduce the noise level that arises from the air passing through them. In addition, all other parts of the tread have been optimized in a corresponding way, which made it possible to significantly improve acoustic comfort.
Another notable innovation of this model is the Nordic cool silica compound rubber mixture. Thanks to the addition of special components, the tire's tread maintains its elasticity at a stable level over a very wide temperature range. I.e., the tire will be equally elastic both in summer heat and in autumn frosts, which means that its excellent operating characteristics are practically independent of the weather outside.
