Description Nokian Hakka Green 2
The summer tire Nokian Hakka Green 2 has virtually nothing in common with its popular predecessor, being a completely different model created "from scratch". At the same time, Finnish tire manufacturers used both new developments and technical solutions that have proven themselves well on other tires. Moreover, the best was taken from models of various categories, ranging from Ultra High Performance tires to commercial tires. The result of such a mix was a nearly perfect balance of poorly combined operational characteristics, each of which is at a very high level.
Modernized breaker
One of the significant innovations was the modernized breaker design. Like its predecessor, it is made of steel cord, but its weight has been significantly reduced due to the reduction of the steel thread diameter. This in no way affected its strength and resistance to deformation. Moreover, the breaker has become significantly stiffer due to the new winding technology, in which every two steel threads are intertwined. The practical result of this solution was an increase in traction properties at high speeds and a reduction in rolling resistance.
Improved drainage system efficiency
During the development of this model, much attention was paid to ensuring maximum traction properties on wet roads. This was achieved by using several technical solutions at once. One of them was the design of transverse drainage grooves located in the shoulder areas of the tread. They are distinguished by a width that increases in the direction of the center of the tread, which significantly increases the throughput and, along with it, the resistance to aquaplaning.
Another notable innovation that improved traction on wet roads was the changed design of longitudinal grooves, also located in the shoulder areas. Their inner walls have a curved shape, which accelerates the speed of water circulation along them. At the same time, the efficiency of this solution is maintained throughout the entire service life of the tire.
Reduced vibration level
This model is favorably distinguished by a reduced level of noise and vibration while driving. To a large extent, this is due to the additional insulating layer in the tire's sidewalls. It prevents the transmission of vibrations from the steel cord, practically completely absorbing them.
Optimized rubber compound
The rubber compound used in this tire's tread has a somewhat unusual set of components, despite the fact that more than half of it consists of silica. At the same time, its content has been significantly increased due to the addition of polymeric substances. This has led to a significant increase in wear resistance and traction on wet roads.
One of its components is carbon black particles, which enhance the connection between all the "ingredients" of the compound at the molecular level. This significantly increases the strength of the tread on rupture and its resistance to punctures. The next original component is a mixture of rapeseed and pine oil, which helps to reduce rolling resistance.
Main features of Nokian Hakka Green 2
- low weight and increased stiffness of the breaker significantly improve the stability of traction properties at high speeds, reduce fuel consumption;
- excellent resistance to aquaplaning is achieved due to numerous grooves in the shoulder areas, the transverse ones having a feather-like shape, and the inner walls of the longitudinal ones - a curved shape;
- an additional layer in the tire's sidewalls reduces the level of low-frequency noise and vibrations generated by the steel cord;
- a new rubber compound with increased silica content, a mixture of pine and rapeseed oil, and carbon black particles improves traction on wet roads, prevents wear, increases the strength of the tread on rupture, and its resistance to punctures.
