The summer passenger tire Nokian Hakka Black is one of the most anticipated innovations of the Finnish manufacturer. This model is designed for high-speed driving and belongs to the Ultra-High Performance tire category. The range of sizes offers a rich selection and is represented by 28 options with a mounting diameter from 16 to 20 inches. This model is distinguished by exceptionally high technical characteristics and the ability to provide a high level of safety at speeds of up to 300 km/h.
Tread pattern design of the new Finnish tire
Like other representatives of the Hakka summer model family, this tire is equipped with a tread featuring an asymmetric directed pattern consisting of five longitudinal ribs. The central part of the tread is fully occupied by three longitudinal ribs, each of which has a solid structure characterized by high rigidity. Thanks to this construction of the middle part of the tread, the Nokian Hakka Black tire is distinguished by lightning-fast reactions to steering wheel turns, which is an extremely important ability when driving at high speeds.
Another feature of the tread of this model is its multi-radius nature and small radius of the profile of the shoulder zones. As a result of such design refinements, a very large contact patch area was achieved, which determined the excellent traction characteristics on dry surfaces. In addition to its large size, the contact patch has a practically rectangular shape, which ideally distributes the external load over the entire area. This ensures more even wear of the tread, which significantly extended the service life of the tire.
Multi-layer tread structure
The lower layer of the tread is the base layer, made from a rubber compound that is characterized by increased rigidity and high heat resistance. Due to the high rigidity of the lower layer, it was possible to reduce rolling resistance and improve handling characteristics.
The middle layer of the tread is an intermediate layer made from a low-molecular-weight nanosilica mixture. Thanks to this layer, steering wheel movements are transmitted much faster, which significantly reduced the tire's reaction time, while providing high precision.
The upper layer is made from a more elastic Nordic Intelligent UHP compound, which was specifically developed for this model. The new rubber compound has excellent adaptability to high-speed driving and harsh operating conditions. Its excellent characteristics are largely due to functional molecular chains, the strength of which has been significantly increased using silica, which significantly improved the tread's resistance to wear. In addition, the use of silica made it possible to give the rubber compound excellent elasticity. Another feature of the new rubber compound is its ability to maintain its properties at a stable level over a wide temperature range. Thanks to this, the Nokian Hakka Black tire demonstrates excellent traction in any conditions.
Excellent handling in rainy conditions
This model is favorably distinguished by excellent characteristics in rainy conditions. This was largely achieved by the original design of the drainage system. In particular, the middle part of the tread features four longitudinal water-removing grooves called Hydro-Groove. Thanks to their large size, these grooves can accommodate a sufficient amount of water, which is then removed from the contact patch through transverse channels located in the shoulder zones of the tread. At the same time, the polished surface of the longitudinal drainage grooves increases the water circulation speed, which improved the overall efficiency of the drainage system.
In addition, the side walls of the longitudinal water-removing grooves are equipped with numerous semicircular depressions, which optimally direct air flows, reducing the level of noise generated. The shoulder zones of the tread are equipped with drainage channels called Swoop Grooves, the side walls of which contain elliptical notches. Thanks to this, the side grooves can accommodate a larger amount of water, which also improves the efficiency of the drainage system.
Main features of the Finnish Nokian Hakka Black
- Asymmetric directed pattern design of the tread is optimized for very high-speed driving;
- Longitudinal Hydro-Groove grooves with a polished bottom and side walls with special semicircular depressions provide high resistance to aquaplaning and contribute to noise reduction;
- Lateral water-removing Swoop Grooves channels are equipped with special elliptical notches, allowing them to accommodate a large amount of water, thus improving the performance of the drainage system;
- The new Nordic Intelligent UHP rubber compound provides excellent tread wear resistance, while giving it excellent elasticity;
- The multi-layer tread structure made it possible to achieve excellent handling characteristics and control responsiveness in any conditions;
- The reinforced carcass with a two-layer high-strength metal cord allows the tire to withstand harsh operating conditions and prolonged high-speed driving.
