The winter tire Nexen Winguard Sport 3 is designed for mid-range and premium passenger vehicles. It belongs to the so-called "friction" models, being designed for operation in regions with a cold winter climate. It is characterized by improved traction and coupling properties on wet and snowy surfaces, handling comfort, low noise level, and fuel efficiency.
The tread pattern is made in a V-shaped design, differing in an increased number of its constituent elements. First of all, these are blocks in the shoulder zones, forming numerous transverse edges, which provide excellent traction and braking intensity demonstrated by the tire when driving on snowy surfaces. It is worth noting the use of a zigzag shape of the longitudinal groove walls, which in such conditions significantly reduces the risk of lateral skidding, allowing the tread to capture and hold snow. The central part of the pattern also differs in the number of elements located here. However, the high density of their arrangement provides the formation of a very wide composite longitudinal rib, which increases directional stability and handling accuracy, reduces wear and rolling resistance, especially on snow-free surfaces. An important feature of the tire is its profile. The changing curvature of the profile significantly increases the contact patch, while equalizing the load distribution on it. In combination with the reinforced additional cord breaker, this noticeably increases the stability of the coupling properties, mainly when maneuvering and driving in a straight line at high speed, which makes it much easier to control the vehicle. This solution significantly reduces the level of abrasive impact on the tread, thereby increasing the mileage of the tire.
