The winter tire Nexen Winguard Sport 2 is adapted for operation in the so-called "European" winters. It demonstrates the greatest efficiency on wet and snowy road surfaces at temperatures around 0 degrees Celsius. In such conditions, it is distinguished by stable traction and braking. It is also characterized by a high level of acoustic comfort, fuel efficiency, and durability.
The tread pattern, unlike the "asymmetric" model of the previous generation, is made in a directional design. Another difference is the increased number of blocks, which have been significantly reduced in size. In the central part, the elements have a curved shape and are arranged in a checkerboard pattern, which forms a wide longitudinal rib in the middle. This design improves handling precision, reduces rolling resistance, and allows the tire to effectively realize its traction on snow. The V-shaped arrangement of the drainage grooves provides intense removal of water and its mixture with snow and road slush from under the contact patch.
The shoulder blocks are turned across and extended. The edges formed by them provide high efficiency during braking. In turn, the stability of the shoulder blocks against deformation during transverse accelerations gives the tire stability during maneuvering.
The entire tread is covered with sinusoidal lamellas. They further improve traction and braking properties on icy surfaces.
