Excellent grip on wet pavement is one of the advantageous features of this model. This was made possible due to the presence of two factors. Firstly, the rubber compound contains silicon-based components that provide more reliable grip on a wet surface, as well as increasing the durability of the tread to abrasive wear. Secondly, the tread of the Nexen Roadian 542 tire is equipped with a high-performance drainage system, the main components of which are four very wide longitudinal water drainage grooves located in the central part. Their volume is sufficient to divert a large amount of water from the contact patch, thereby providing excellent resistance to aquaplaning.
Two-module design of the shoulder areas of the tread
Another characteristic feature of this tire is its high stability and reliable behavior when cornering. This was achieved due to the introduction of a two-module design of the shoulder areas. This part of the tread consists of two parts, which made it possible to significantly increase its stiffness.
Double central rib
In the very center of the tread pattern, South Korean tire engineers placed a double longitudinal rib. Due to the absence of interruptions throughout its length, this tread element is characterized by very high stiffness, and due to its double design, it is resistant to lateral accelerations. This made it possible to significantly increase the directional stability, as well as give the handling sporty features due to the lightning-fast response to steering wheel turns.
