The summer passenger tire Nexen CP643a is an improved version of the CP643 model. The main changes affected the size range and tire design. This was due to the fact that this tire is designed for more powerful and high-speed passenger sedans of the middle class, which also have a greater mass.
S-shaped tread pattern
This model is equipped with a classic S-shaped tread pattern, consisting of three longitudinal ribs in the central part and a pair of shoulder zones. This choice was due to the desire to provide the tire with a practically ideal balance between sporty handling and driving comfort. I.e. this model is primarily addressed to car owners who prefer a sporty driving style, but are not ready to give up comfort for this. In addition to excellent handling, this scheme of tread element arrangement practically guarantees the absence of resonant noises and vibrations.
Rigid shoulder zones
The increased rigidity of the shoulder zones of the tread is one of the main differences from the CP643 model. This was achieved through the use of a more rigid rubber compound. As a result, the Nexen CP643a tire demonstrates excellent stability when cornering. Additionally, the shoulder zones of the tread have a large number of massive blocks. Thanks to the formed edges of adhesion, it was possible to significantly reduce the braking distance, especially on wet pavement.
Wide central rib
The rigid longitudinal rib is another characteristic feature of the tread pattern. In addition to its massive size, it is distinguished by a double structure and the absence of breaks throughout its length. This made it very rigid and resistant to dynamic deformations. The final result of these technical tricks was the excellent directional stability demonstrated by the tire at any speed.
Main features of the Nexen CP643a tire
- excellent traction on wet pavement is provided by four wide drainage grooves, reducing the likelihood of aquaplaning;
- a rubber compound with silica additive provides more reliable traction, while increasing the resistance of the tread to abrasive wear;
- excellent stability when cornering, thanks to the increased size and high rigidity of the shoulder zones of the tread;
- excellent directional stability at any speed due to the double central rib, which has excellent resistance to dynamic deformation.
