The Nankang SNC1 winter passenger tire is an upgraded version of the NC1 model, adapted for winter operation, which is reflected in its name. The key difference of this model is the block structure of the tread and the presence of multiple 3D lamellas. In addition, it is impossible not to note the excellent applicability of this tire, thanks to a well-thought-out size range that includes 6 of the most popular sizes with a diameter from 14 to 17 inches.
Excellent traction on winter roads
This model is equipped with a fairly common S-shaped symmetrical non-directional tread pattern, which has an excellent balance of operational qualities. However, some changes were made to its design, mainly related to the specific conditions of winter operation on light commercial vehicles. I.e. the developers were required to provide the Nankang SNC1 tire with a range of properties, from reduced rolling resistance to reliable and stable traction on winter surfaces. The modern five-rib tread pattern with an S-shaped design made this possible.
One of the characteristic features of this pattern is the presence of numerous massive tread blocks, grouped into 5 longitudinal ribs, three of which are located in the central part of the tread. This arrangement made it possible to provide good directional stability, especially when moving on slippery surfaces. At the same time, the massive size of the tread blocks allowed significantly increasing the contact patch area and improving the uniformity of external pressure distribution over it.
Main features of the Nankang SNC1 tire
- Five longitudinal ribs consisting of massive tread blocks provide excellent directional stability, reliable and stable traction on any winter surface;
- A multitude of three-dimensional lamellas, when in contact with the surface, form numerous sharp edges that effectively grip the icy surface;
- Four longitudinal drainage grooves located in the central part of the tread, due to their large size, provide high resistance not only to aquaplaning but also to slushplaning;
- The massive size of the tread blocks made it possible to improve the uniformity of load distribution over the contact patch, which reduced the likelihood of uneven wear.
