The Minerva Eco Stud winter studded tire is a great example of how simple design solutions can provide excellent performance characteristics while keeping costs at a very humane level. Additionally, it is impossible not to note the extremely balanced approach to forming the size range. It includes only those types of sizes that are most popular among car owners. Due to this, the Chinese manufacturer was able to significantly reduce the cost of this model, as well as its final price.
Excellent stability even at high speeds
One of the distinctive features of this tire is the structure of the central part of the tread, the main element of which is a longitudinal rib that divides the tread into two symmetrical parts. At the same time, this tread element is designed to perform several tasks at once. First of all, this is ensuring maximum directional stability, which is achieved due to high resistance to deformation that occurs during movement.
In addition, the edges of this rib have numerous triangular protrusions that form additional edges of adhesion. This solution allowed to further improve the traction properties in the longitudinal direction.
Excellent grip on snow
Among the many strengths of this model, it is impossible not to note the excellent grip on winter surfaces. This was achieved thanks to several technical solutions at once. First of all, this is the block structure of the tread, thanks to which the contact patch has many differently directed edges of adhesion.
In addition, there are special cross-shaped grooves in the shoulder areas of the tread. During movement, they collect and compact snow on the surface of the road, which significantly improves adhesion to it.
Lamellae and studs
Unfortunately, the Minerva Eco Stud tire is initially supplied without studs. However, this should not be too upsetting, since the tread of this model has many lamellae. Their number is counted in tens of thousands, which allows to compensate for a significant part of the adhesion properties on ice lost due to the absence of studs.
In addition, the lamellae contribute to improved handling on dry asphalt surfaces. For this, it is worth thanking the zigzag profile of their walls, which allows them to be tightly fixed between themselves at the moment of contact with the road surface. Due to the dense fixation, the block stiffness increases significantly, which substantially reduces the reaction time of the tire to the steering wheel control. At the same time, the reactions become not only fast but also extremely accurate, which noticeably simplifies the process of controlling the car.
Main features of Minerva Eco Stud
- low cost, which did not prevent the tire from having excellent performance characteristics;
- the original V-shaped tread pattern with a symmetrical arrangement of elements is optimized for movement on any winter surfaces;
- a rigid central rib with numerous triangular protrusions provides not only excellent directional stability but also additional traction properties in the longitudinal direction;
- excellent passability on snow due to the presence of many separate massive blocks;
- several tens of thousands of lamellae allow you to confidently move on ice even without studs.
