Its name, the Mickey Thompson Deegan 38, owes its origin to American racing driver Brian Deegan, who competes on this renowned brand's tires with the number 38. The primary "target audience" for this model consists of pickup truck owners who operate them primarily off paved roads. At the same time, the technical solutions used in its design provide it with decent performance on highways as well. Additionally, it's worth noting the traditional "American" design of this tire, where all the inscriptions are painted white. The exception is the model for 20-inch wheel rims, where they are entirely black.
Open design of the shoulder areas
A significant portion of the advantages demonstrated by this tire off-road is provided due to the open design of the shoulder areas of the tread. Each of them contains a multitude of wide blocks spaced at a considerable distance from one another. Such a design demonstrates the greatest efficiency on dirt roads with increased moisture content, as well as on rocky terrain. In this regard, it's worth noting the presence of special elements on the bottom of the shoulder area drainage grooves that, during movement, push out stones stuck in the tread. This significantly increases the reliability of the tire when operating off-road, thereby increasing its service life.
Substantial contact area
Another of the distinctive features of this model is the increased size of the contact patch. This was achieved due to the wider tread and its design, which includes a multitude of massive blocks. In addition to improving traction properties, these features give the tire a whole range of other important advantages. Almost all of them are a direct consequence of optimizing the load distribution across the contact patch, which, in turn, prevents the development of uneven wear and increases passability when moving on soils with reduced carrying capacity.
Winter use possibility
The massive size of the tread blocks allowed its developers to equip it with numerous lamellas. This feature makes itself known when driving on any slippery and smooth surfaces, primarily on winter roads, where this model is distinguished by confident and reliable behavior.
Key features of Mickey Thompson Deegan 38
- the open design of the shoulder areas of the tread provides the tire with excellent traction properties on rocky surfaces and earthy soils with increased moisture content;
- special "stone ejectors" increase reliability when operating off-road, thereby increasing the tire's service life;
- low noise level due to the multi-step arrangement of tread elements;
- reliable and confident behavior on winter roads is ensured by the numerous traction edges formed by the lamellas cut into the blocks.
