The Michelin XM+S winter tire is designed for commercial vehicles with small capacity. It is characterized by reliability in handling on icy and snowy roads, exceptional for its class ride, and reliability in adverse operating conditions.
Effective winter road tread pattern
The significantly increased performance of the tire on slippery winter roads is largely due to the design of its tread pattern. It features a large number of rectangular high blocks. Their differently directed edges allow maintaining stability on snowy surfaces, preventing skidding. Each block has several wavy slots - lamellas. These elements, with their sharp edges, penetrate through the water film on the icy surface, allowing the tire to better grip it. The tread features wide grooves. The increased volume and size of these elements allow intensive water and its heavy mixture with snow and road dirt to be removed from the contact patch, which significantly improves traction properties in adverse road conditions.
Increased reliability and excellent ride
The tire uses a reinforced carcass, which is a multi-layer steel cord. Along with the progressive winding method and the presence of a special elastic "liner" between the layers, this gives the entire structure exceptional resistance to impact, guaranteeing the reliability of the tire in adverse operating conditions. The sidewalls feature a special compound with increased resistance to mechanical damage, and their thickness has been increased. In turn, the tread area is made from a rubber mixture that not only remains elastic at negative temperatures but also has resistance to abrasive wear, punctures, and tears.
Main features of Michelin XM+S 100
- numerous high blocks provide high traction and stability on snowy surfaces;
- wavy lamellas improve grip on icy surfaces;
- reinforced carcass, thickened sidewalls, and mechanically resistant rubber compound provide reliability and high mileage of the tire.
