The summer tire Michelin Primacy 4 SUV Acoustic is designed for crossovers and SUVs. It is intended for use exclusively on paved roads. It is one of the versions of the same-name model, differing in improved acoustic comfort, which has led to some changes in the design.
This is a special layer of polyurethane foam applied to the inside of the tire. The porous structure of the material with numerous voids effectively absorbs vibrations and noise generated by various elements of the tire's design while moving. This solution significantly improves the acoustic comfort inside the car. Since the polyurethane foam has an extremely low weight, its presence on the inside of the tread practically does not affect the tire's performance in any way.
Another feature of this model is the increased performance of the drainage system. It is provided by the increased volume of water-dispelling grooves. They have a practically rectangular shape, which allowed making them 22% more capacious compared to the tire of the previous generation. As a result, the tire retains its grip on the road surface in much worse weather conditions. The difference is especially noticeable when the tread is significantly worn.
The tire's tread is made of a rubber compound based on "silica". It gives the tread elasticity at low temperatures, increases resistance to abrasive wear. The addition of special polymers to the composition significantly enhances these properties, due to the formation of stronger bonds between all components of the compound at the molecular level. This solution allows the tire to retain a significant part of its initial operational properties throughout almost the entire service life, significantly increasing it.
Main features of Michelin Primacy 4 SUV Acoustic
- increased acoustic comfort due to the sound- and vibration-insulating layer on the inside of the tire;
- optimized shape of drainage grooves increases resistance to aquaplaning, retaining this ability even with significant tread wear;
- "silica"-based rubber compound with special polymers provides high resistance to abrasive wear, retains the tire's performance properties throughout its entire service life.
