The French manufacturer positions the summer tire Michelin Primacy 3 ST as a model with a high level of comfort on the go, but with uncompromising traction properties on both dry and wet surfaces. Ensuring, if not the ideal balance between all characteristics, was made possible by the use of original technical solutions and new materials.
Improved handling and braking efficiency
The tire's tread pattern contains a large number of blocks with beveled transverse edges. During longitudinal accelerations, this feature provides constancy of the contact patch size. As a result, the traction properties do not change, which, in turn, gives the tire stability and predictability when changing the driving mode, for example, when starting to brake or accelerate.
In addition, the tread has special self-locking lamellas. These elements limit the mobility of the blocks when subjected to transverse acceleration forces. As a result, they are transmitted to the carcass components much faster, which, in turn, provides high handling responsiveness with very clear feedback.
FlexMax technology
The ST version differs from the standard Primacy 3 in several technical innovations. One of them is the FlexMax technology. The essence of the innovation lies in the use of special polymeric compounds in the rubber mixture, which give the tread the ability to tightly fit even small irregularities on the road surface, so that the tire demonstrates traction properties even on a completely smooth surface.
Increased acoustic comfort
The next difference from the regular Primacy 3 is the reduced noise level. Acoustic comfort is provided by the EvenPeak technology. This solution represents a carefully selected combination of the arrangement, shape, and size of the tread elements, at which the noise generated by them is distributed in a certain frequency range - not perceived by the human ear.
Multifunctional compound
The universal characteristics of the tread are largely due to the physical properties of the compound. It contains several types of polymeric compounds that improve certain driving qualities of the tire. In particular, some of them reduce the heating of the tread when driving at high speed, which, on the one hand, increases its service life, and on the other hand, reduces rolling resistance, which has a positive effect on fuel efficiency. Part of the materials in the compound increase the resistance of the tread to abrasive wear, to such an extent that the French manufacturer offers a guarantee of 70,000 kilometers of mileage for this tire on some markets.
