The Michelin Premier LTX summer tire is installed on SUV class vehicles. It is distinguished by reliable coupling properties in any weather and road conditions, while demonstrating acoustic comfort and a long service life.
Reliability on slippery surfaces
A distinctive feature of the tread pattern of this tire is the presence of a large number of elements that enhance the coupling properties on wet surfaces. First of all, these are drainage grooves through which the tread drains water from the contact patch. In addition to them, there are a large number of narrow zigzag-shaped slits. Exactly the same elements are widely used in winter tires. They perform two functions - they improve coupling on slippery surfaces and additionally enhance resistance to aquaplaning.
The drying of the contact patch is also "handled" by numerous drainage grooves. The longitudinal elements in the side projection have a trapezoidal shape that expands upwards. It additionally increases the efficiency of the grooves.
Coupling with strong wear
Unlike most tires of other brands, this tire retains its initial operational properties even with strong wear. First of all, the coupling and braking efficiency on wet surfaces. This is mainly due to the transverse grooves in the shoulder blocks. As the tread wears out, they expand and become deeper.
Compound with extremely high silica content
To a significant extent, the efficiency of the tread on wet surfaces is due to the physicochemical properties of the rubber mixture. Its composition is distinguished by an extremely high content of silica. This component gives the tread such elasticity at low temperatures that it allows it to very tightly fit the smallest irregularities on the surface of the asphalt pavement. The presence of special polymers in the composition of the compound gives it strength against rupture and stretching. This ensures the resistance of the tread to wear and its ability to maintain its integrity when moving at high speed.
Main features:
- the tread is developed using the EvenGrip technology;
- numerous zigzag-shaped lamellae improve coupling on wet surfaces, prevent aquaplaning;
- a compound with an extremely high content of silica and special polymers;
- transverse grooves in the shoulder blocks expand and become deeper as the tread wears out.
