The summer tire Michelin Pilot SX MXX3 stands out noticeably among other models in the Pilot lineup of the French brand. It is designed for classic sports cars of the 90s of the last century, primarily the Porsche 964, 993, and 930 series. Unlike other "Pilots", this model differs in its exterior, primarily due to the sidewalls, where the manufacturer's name is highlighted in white. Significant differences are also present in the design, which is adapted to the technical features of sports cars of that time.
2-zone tread pattern
Like other representatives of the Pilot lineup, the tread pattern of this tire is divided into two parts - internal and external. The first one is responsible for efficiency and comfort in everyday use on public roads. It is distinguished by an increased number of drainage elements, as well as their arrangement, which reduces noise and vibrations. The outer side of the tread is characterized by increased stiffness and resistance to deformation of its forming elements. This significantly improves the stability of the traction properties and the accuracy of control during dynamic maneuvering and high-speed movement.
Optimized tread profile
The next feature of the tire is the shape of the tread profile. It has a variable curvature, selected using computer modeling tools. This made it possible to significantly increase the size of the tread area that is constantly in contact with the road surface, as well as give it a shape that provides an extremely even distribution of the car's weight on it. On the one hand, this solution significantly improved traction, giving it stability, especially when exposed to multidirectional acceleration forces, and on the other hand, it reduced rolling resistance and slowed down the process of abrasive wear of the tread.
Precision accuracy in handling
In addition to the tread pattern concept, the tire shares with other Pilot lineup models the construction of the carcass, including a breaker with a cord made of aramid fibers, which occupies almost all the space directly under the tread pattern. Such a "substrate", having high stiffness and resistance to deformation, limits the mobility of the tread pattern elements, making the tire's reactions to the driver's actions almost instantaneous and very accurate, greatly simplifying control over the trajectory of movement at high speed, providing clear feedback on the steering wheel.
