The summer tire Michelin Pilot Sport PS4 SUV Acoustic is a modified version of the model with the same name and, like it, is designed for the fastest crossovers and SUVs. It is distinguished by an increased level of acoustic comfort, achieved through a number of changes in the tire design. At the same time, the exceptional traction properties at high speeds, which this tire was advantageous, have been fully preserved.
One of the key distinguishing features of this model is the reduced level of noise and vibration. This trait is especially pronounced on worn asphalt pavement. This is achieved due to the presence on the inner side of the tire of an additional layer of special polymeric material with a porous structure. It absorbs a significant part of the noise and vibration that occurs during movement, not allowing them to be transmitted to the suspension and body elements of the vehicle. As a result, the acoustic comfort inside the cabin increases. The noise-absorbing material has an extremely low weight and therefore its presence practically does not affect the handling and other driving qualities of the tire.
The tread part of the protector is made of a rubber compound that, in addition to a large amount of silicon dioxide, contains so-called functional elastomers. They increase the strength of the compound for rupture and stretching, while maintaining its elasticity at low temperatures. As a result, the tire remains sticky on cold wet road surfaces and resistant to abrasive wear.
The asymmetric tread pattern is divided into two parts - internal and external. The outer side, containing massive and rigid elements, increases the traction properties on dry pavement. In turn, the inner part of the tread, featuring a large number of sharp edges and faces, allows for intense acceleration and deceleration on a wet surface.
The tire carcass is fully made of lightweight synthetic materials. At the same time, the use of advanced methods of cord winding allows giving the design exceptional stiffness and resistance to deformation effects. In combination with a durable aramid-nylon breaker, this improves handling and stability at high speeds.
