The Michelin Pilot Sport EV Selfseal summer tire is designed for the most dynamic versions of passenger cars with electric and hybrid powertrains. It is characterized by sporty precision in handling, improved traction on wet surfaces, reduced rolling resistance, and acoustic comfort.
Some of the technical solutions used in this tire were "borrowed" from sports tires for road and track racing. First and foremost, this is a tread made from two compounds. The central part, made from a more rigid rubber mixture, improves directional stability and precision in handling during significant accelerations and high-speed driving. The shoulder zones are made from a compound with increased thermal conductivity and strength against rupture and stretching, which provides a significant reduction in rolling resistance and, consequently, battery consumption.
This model is a special version of the same tire, differing from it by its ability to self-seal punctures. For this purpose, a sealed cavity with a special viscous material, consisting of half natural rubber, is provided on the inside of the tire. In the event of a penetrating injury, it is drawn into the hole and almost instantly vulcanized, preventing pressure loss.
Key features of Michelin Pilot Sport EV Selfseal
- two rubber compound compositions provide balanced operational properties;
- the built-in puncture sealing system increases tire reliability;
- the optimized tread profile and pattern increase the contact patch.
