The Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R Connect summer tire is designed for the most dynamic versions of passenger cars. Structurally, it is a tire for highway-ring racing, the design of which has been adapted for use on public roads. It is a special version of the same-name model, differing from it by the presence of a slot for a sensor that constantly measures the air pressure inside the tire.
In motion, the tire is characterized by uncompromising precision in handling and traction at any speed. This is largely due to the design of the carcass, which has two steel cords, one polyamide and two polyester ones. A rubber compound is added between the steel and synthetic cords, which fixes them together. This "layered cake" allows the tire to maintain its original profile shape even under significant impact of multidirectional acceleration forces.
The tread part of the tire is made of two compounds. The outer side is made of a rubber compound with the addition of special polymers that further increase elasticity and strength against rupture and stretching. This enhances traction in corners. The inner part of the tread is made of a more rigid compound, which provides precision handling and control over the trajectory of the vehicle's movement at high speed.
Main features of Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R Connect
- a rigid and lightweight carcass made of steel and synthetic cords increases the stability of traction and the precision of handling;
- a tread made of two rubber compounds provides balanced driving characteristics without deteriorating any of them;
- a slot for an air pressure sensor inside the tire.
