All-season tire Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 (Porsche) is a universal premium-class model developed taking into account the specific features of Porsche sports cars based on technologies used in all Pilot Sport line tires. It is focused on drivers who expect from such products not only reliability in unpredictable weather conditions, but also dynamics characteristic of UHP category tires. The main qualities of the model are high steering accuracy, short braking distance on dry and wet surfaces, as well as stability of characteristics when changing temperature.
To a large extent, this is ensured by the carcass created on the basis of the third-generation Variable Contact Patch technology. The essence of this solution lies in the changing distribution of pressure in the contact patch during turns and maneuvers. The basis of the design is a multi-layer polyester cord, on top of which is a two-layer steel breaker with nylon reinforcement. Such a structure gives the carcass an optimal ratio of flexibility and strength, providing accuracy of reaction to steering commands and stability when driving at high speed.
The tire tread is made in an asymmetric design, combining elements of sports and winter tires. From the first, rigid and massive elements from the outside were "borrowed", and from the second, an increased number of grooves and lamellas on the inside of the pattern. Particular attention is paid to the drainage system: four deep longitudinal grooves accelerate the removal of water from the contact area, minimizing aquaplaning, and numerous diagonal cuts ensure stable behavior of the tire on a thin snow cover.
The key difference of the tire is the Helio+ rubber compound, which includes silicon and sunflower oil. Silicon dioxide increases grip on wet surfaces and reduces rolling resistance, while organic oils contribute to the uniform distribution of heat and prevent premature aging of the rubber. As a result, the model demonstrates stable behavior, both in summer and with the first winter cold, while maintaining smoothness and predictability of handling.
Main features of Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3 (Porsche):
- Variable Contact Patch 3.0 technology provides uniform pressure distribution and stable grip during dynamic maneuvering;
- Helio+ rubber compound maintains elasticity at low temperatures, increasing grip on wet surfaces;
- Reinforced carcass with nylon reinforcement ensures precise steering response and wear resistance at high speeds.
