The Michelin Pilot Preceda summer tire is designed for the most powerful versions of passenger cars of various classes. The model is distinguished by reliable grip and uncompromising sports handling. It was created by the same specialists who, in their time, were involved in the development of tires for Formula 1 racing, using proven technologies and materials.
"Hybrid" compound
One of the solutions previously used only in circuit racing was the use of a so-called "hybrid" compound. The outer parts of the tread are made from a more elastic rubber mixture. This improves grip in turns and braking properties when braking. In turn, the central part of the tread has increased stiffness, which gives the tire additional directional stability when moving in a straight line, making its reactions to the driver's actions even faster and more accurate.
Asymmetric tread pattern
Along with the "hybrid" compound, the balance of operational properties is provided by an asymmetric tread pattern. Large blocks in the shoulder zones provide the tire with stability in turns on dry pavement. The central part, containing wide longitudinal drainage grooves and numerous knife-like cuts, prevents aquaplaning, thereby improving grip on wet roads.
Low noise level
The tread blocks are arranged with an offset relative to each other. This guarantees that their edges will touch the road surface simultaneously, thereby eliminating the likelihood of resonance noise and vibrations.
Key features of the Michelin Pilot Preceda tire
- "hybrid" compound with varying degrees of elasticity in the shoulder zones and central part of the tread;
- asymmetric tread pattern provides balanced characteristics;
- the arrangement of tread blocks with an offset improves acoustic comfort.
