Two Compound Technology

One of the distinctive features of this model is the rubber compound, of which there are not one, but two. When manufacturing the central part and shoulder areas of the tread, two different compositions are used. They differ from each other in a number of physical properties, first of all, elasticity. This makes it possible to simultaneously solve very contradictory tasks - ensuring wear resistance and traction when maneuvering or turning.

The central part of the Michelin Pilot Power 3 tread is made of a less rigid rubber compound. At the same time, the width of this zone for the front tire is approximately 25%, and for the rear - 75%. In addition, the center of the rear tire tread is more elastic than that of the front. The rubber compound compositions in the shoulder areas of both wheels differ in a similar way.

2CT+ Technology

This technological solution is inextricably linked with Two Compound Technology, since this term hides a two-layer tread. Its lower layer is made of a less elastic rubber compound, and the upper one, on the contrary, is made of a more rigid one. Thanks to this, it was possible to increase the tread's resistance to dynamic deformation, which in practice is expressed in excellent stability at any speed, as well as the accuracy and speed of the tire's response to the driver's control actions.

V-shaped tread pattern

Among other distinctive features of this model is the tread pattern, which has a symmetrical V-shaped design. It is formed by numerous drainage grooves, which, in addition to draining water from the contact patch, create a significant number of traction edges during movement. Thanks to this solution, the French tire manufacturers were able to solve several tasks at once. First of all, this is the directional stability, short braking distance, and excellent acceleration dynamics on a wet road.
