This version of the Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 winter tire is designed for Porsche vehicles. The key difference from the "original" is a significantly modified tread pattern. And, like it, it is designed for operation in the specific conditions of so-called "European" winters. It is characterized by improved traction on wet roads with short sections of thawed snow.
The tread pattern is distinguished by an increased number of blocks, as well as their shape, which additionally increases the length of the vertical walls. This solution made it possible to significantly increase the traction characteristics on snowy surfaces. Along with the blocks, the number of grooves passing between them has increased. As a result, another advantage compared to the original model is a reduced risk of hydroplaning, which has led to an increase in reliability when driving on wet surfaces.
The tire tread is made from a HelioCompound rubber mixture of the third generation. Its composition, in addition to the increased content of "silica" again, is characterized by the presence of a certain amount of sunflower oil. This component further increases the strength of the compound on rupture and stretching at low temperatures, as well as its resistance to abrasive wear. As a result, it was possible to improve the traction properties on wet and snowy surfaces, increase the mileage of the tire, especially on roads with so-called "rough" asphalt.
