The Michelin Energy MXV4+ tire, like other representatives of this "green" line, belongs to the so-called energy-efficient models. However, at the same time, this tire stands out noticeably from the rest with its improved traction properties on wet surfaces, greater precision in handling, while maintaining comparable levels of fuel efficiency and ride comfort.
Optimized Casing
A significant part of the technologies used in this model were "borrowed" from the flagship tires of the French brand. First and foremost, this is MaxTouch Construction. Its basis is an optimized casing structure, which is a multi-layer cord of alternating polyester, nylon, and aramid fibers. Progressive winding methods were used, which provide not only the absence of seams and joints but also a certain directionality of the fibers. As a result, the casing is extremely lightweight and highly resistant to deformation. Directly under the tread, there are several layers that additionally reinforce this ability, but already for the tread pattern elements, limiting their mobility. This improves the even distribution of pressure on the road surface, preventing rapid wear of the tread, reducing rolling resistance, and thus improving the tire's fuel efficiency.
Reduced Noise and Vibration Level
Another significant difference of this model is the reduced noise and vibration level it demonstrates. This is due to several solutions at once. One of them was the optimization of the tire's rim design, inside which there is a cavity filled with a polymer material. On the one hand, this increases the reliability of the tire's fixation on the wheel disk, and on the other hand, it prevents the transmission of vibrations to the vehicle's suspension components, "transmitting" them to the cabin. The tread pattern has undergone certain changes, primarily affecting the arrangement of elements. They are spaced at a certain distance from each other, which minimizes the risk of forming resonant noise and vibrations, which also has a positive effect on acoustic comfort.
Main Features of Michelin Energy MXV4+:
- The optimized casing and tread profile improve traction and handling, reduce fuel consumption, and prevent rapid tread wear;
- The increased level of acoustic comfort is ensured by the arrangement of tread elements at a certain distance from each other, a special rim design that dampens a significant portion of vibrations;
- The tread pattern with an increased number of sipes and drainage grooves provides reliable handling on wet surfaces.
