The Michelin Alpin A4 Selfseal winter tire is an improved version of its namesake model. The difference from it is the use of Selfseal technology, which increases reliability, especially on poor roads. In all other respects, both models are identical. Like the "standard", this tire is distinguished by excellent traction on winter roads, pronounced fuel-saving properties, and "trademark" high mileage before replacement.
Optimized tread profile
This tire uses Full Active Tread technology. The essence of the solution is to optimize the tread profile and breaker construction. This made it possible to increase the size of the contact patch, ensure maximum dense and even contact of the tread with the road surface in any driving mode. As a result, the coupling properties are not only strengthened but also become very stable, which significantly simplifies the process of managing the car, especially in difficult conditions.
Improved rubber compound
The tread of the tire is made of HelioCompound+ compound. Its composition is based on silica, presented in the form of a fine dispersion. This component provides the tire with elasticity at negative temperatures and improves the coupling properties on any slippery surface. In turn, special polymers, along with sunflower oil, reduce rolling resistance and increase the mechanical strength of the compound.
Excellent traction on any surface
With a standard design for winter tires with a V-shaped arrangement of drainage grooves, the tread pattern of this model has a number of original features. One of them is the reduced width of the blocks, which made it possible to increase their number and, together with this, the number of edges formed by them. Along with their arrangement at a slight angle to the direction of movement, this made it possible to significantly improve longitudinal traction, especially on snow. On icy surfaces, efficiency is provided by lamellas. These incisions have an increased depth, which allows the tire to maintain its performance on ice even with severe tread wear.
Reliability
One of the key features of this tire is a high level of reliability. It is ensured by both the physico-chemical properties of the rubber compound and the strength of the tire design, as well as the SelfSeal technology. A layer of special polymer is applied to the inner side of the tire. In the event of a puncture, it, being in the form of a highly viscous liquid, is pulled by the flow of escaping air into a hole with a diameter of up to 5 mm. Upon contact with the air, it hardens, while maintaining elasticity and restoring tightness. The technology remains operational even if the object that caused the damage remains in the hole.
Main features:
- Full Active Tread technology improves all driving characteristics of the tire;
- HelioCompound+ rubber compound provides reliable traction on slippery surfaces, increases reliability, and reduces fuel consumption;
- Increased number of blocks, deepened lamellas provide efficiency on winter roads even with severe tread wear.
