Description Mentor M400
The summer passenger tire Mentor M400 boasts a rare combination of low cost and excellent performance characteristics. This model is designed for small-class passenger cars that are mostly operated within the city limits.
Wavy tread pattern
For this tire, the company's specialists preferred to use a classic S-shaped tread pattern. This choice is due to its versatility, i.e. the Mentor M400 tread with this element arrangement has good performance on any type of road surface.
It consists of four longitudinal ribs - two in the central part of the tread and two in its shoulder zones. Each of these tread elements consists of many separate blocks. This allowed to maximize the saturation of the contact patch with edges, which had a very positive effect on traction and handling.
Increased stability in turns
Reducing the number of functional parts of the tread made it possible to maximize the size of the shoulder zones. Due to this, it was possible to significantly increase the stability when turning and making sharp maneuvers. Additionally, the increased size of this part of the tread allowed to improve the even distribution of external load on the contact patch. As a result, the tread became much better resistant to uneven wear.
Excellent resistance to aquaplaning
The low cost of this tire did not prevent the manufacturer from equipping it with a very efficient drainage system. It consists of three very wide longitudinal grooves and a multitude of transverse channels of approximately the same capacity. However, their curved shape allowed to significantly increase the water discharge speed, which led to an increase in resistance to aquaplaning.
Main features of the Mentor M400 tire
- the original wavy tread pattern provides excellent performance on any type of asphalt surface;
- the reduced number of tread ribs improved the distribution of external pressure on the contact patch, reducing rolling resistance at the same time;
- the increased size of the shoulder zones of the tread increased stability when turning and sharp maneuvering;
- the wide longitudinal grooves in combination with the curved shape of the transverse channels provided the drainage system with the highest performance.
