Description Maxxis Maxxcross SI
The Maxxis Maxxcross SI motorcycle tire was developed specifically for GNCC (Grand National Cross Country) racing, which has fairly specific operating characteristics, in particular, the absence of asphalt surfaces. This model is designed for so-called "intermediate" and "soft" types of dirt surfaces, including earth. The relatively narrow scope of application determines the presence of certain advantages, which will be discussed below.
Hard compound composition
One of the characteristic features of this model is the rubber compound. It is distinguished by a high degree of hardness, which, in combination with the open tread design, allows the tire to demonstrate excellent traction and wear resistance on dirt surfaces with high and medium levels of moisture content.
"Anti-skid bridges" in the shoulder areas of Maxxis Maxxcross SI
A significant part of the tread pattern of this model is located on its sidewalls. This area contains a large number of very high blocks of a trapezoidal shape. It is on them that the tire relies when the motorcycle is at significant lean angles. They, in turn, due to their significant rigidity, literally bite into the soil, providing excellent stability and traction.
Excellent acceleration and braking performance
Unlike the sidewalls, the central part of the Maxxis Maxxcross SI tread contains a large number of rectangular blocks, spaced at a significant distance from each other. Many of them have a double structure, which provides a contact patch with very long and high traction edges. As a result, the tire demonstrates excellent longitudinal traction properties.
Main features:
- The tire is designed for "intermediate" and "soft" types of dirt surfaces;
- excellent operating characteristics, thanks to the use of solutions in the design that were previously used exclusively in racing tires for motocross;
- reliability and stability when cornering, thanks to the numerous blocks located almost on the sidewalls of the tire;
- a multitude of transverse traction edges of significant length in the central part of the tread allows the tire to demonstrate excellent efficiency during acceleration and braking.
