The winter non-studded tire Matador MPS-530 Sibir Snow Van is one of the latest developments of the widely known Slovak manufacturer in our country. Compared to the previous model MPS-520, which has earned the trust of domestic car enthusiasts, the new product has improved performance on any winter surface. At the same time, it is impossible not to note the wide range of sizes, which includes 19 types of sizes for wheels with a mounting diameter from 14 to 16 inches. Such a range of sizes makes it much easier to choose for owners of various small-tonnage commercial vehicles.
Tread pattern
Like most other tires in this category, the Slovak novelty has a tread pattern consisting of 4 longitudinal ribs. However, the similarity ends here, since in the central part of the tread, there are 2 ribs of a sinusoidal shape. This technical solution has a lot of advantages. First of all, it should be noted the rigidity of these tread elements, which ensures more clear and predictable behavior in all driving modes. In addition, this configuration of the ribs allows for a large number of additional gripping edges to be provided. At the same time, the large distance between the edges of the ribs allows the tread to capture more snow, thereby providing additional traction when driving on snowy roads.
The shoulder areas of the Matador MPS-530 Sibir Snow Van tread have a separate construction, consisting of many massive blocks of rectangular shape. At the same time, they are located across the movement, which on the one hand allows for maximum effective braking on a slippery road, and on the other hand, maintains stability even with strong lateral accelerations.
Increased resistance to aquaplaning and slushplaning
Among the technical features of the tread pattern, it is necessary to note the large distance between the longitudinal ribs and the shoulder area blocks. This allows the drainage system to perfectly handle the removal of excess moisture and heavier masses of thawed snow from the contact patch.
Excellent grip on icy surfaces
Since the tire is designed for winter operation, it's no surprise that the Slovak tire makers tried to equip it with a tread having the maximum number of gripping edges. They are formed not only by numerous tread blocks but also by special elements (lamellas) on their surface. When in contact with the road surface, they form additional gripping edges, thereby providing more reliable behavior when driving on ice. At the same time, the lamellas have a wavy shape, which allows their walls to be tightly fixed to each other. Due to this, it is possible to increase the rigidity of the tread blocks, thereby improving handling on dry asphalt.
Main features of the Matador MPS-530 Sibir Snow Van tire
- excellent traction properties thanks to the optimized tread pattern for winter types of coverage;
- massive sizes of tread elements provide increased carrying capacity and resistance to uneven wear due to more even distribution of external pressure on the contact patch;
- unique sinusoidal shape of the tread blocks located in the central part of the tread provides excellent directional stability with excellent traction on snowy roads;
- excellent resistance to aquaplaning and slushplaning due to the large distance between the tread blocks;
- rigid construction of compact blocks of shoulder areas of the tread provides stability when passing.
