After coming under the control of German Continental AG, the Slovak company Matador is increasingly delighting fans of its tire products with new models, which are getting better and better from year to year. One of such novelties is the MP-47 Hectorra 3 SUV tire for SUVs and crossovers, which stands out for its excellent handling on dry and wet roads, durability, and high level of acoustic comfort. At the same time, it is impossible not to note its excellent applicability, ensured by the presence of 11 sizes in the offered range for wheels from 17 to 22 inches. Against this background, a pleasant trifle is the special wear indicator of the tread. Its disappearance indicates the need to replace it with a new tire.
Resistance to Aquaplaning
This model provides a very high level of safety when driving on wet roads. It is achieved due to the very efficient operation of the drainage system. Its main components are four longitudinal grooves located in the central part of the tread. They serve as a kind of water accumulators, diverting water from the contact patch outward through a system of transverse channels. At the same time, they are distinguished not only by their large number but also by their location at a significant angle against the direction of movement and a curved shape. Such features multiply their throughput.
High Efficiency in Braking and Cornering Stability
The design of the asymmetrical tread pattern is distinguished by the presence of a large number of massive and rigid elements. Combined into five longitudinal ribs, they give the tire a whole range of advantages. First of all, this is a very fast and precise response to steering wheel turns, as well as an effective transfer of traction and braking force to the road surface. The ultimate result of these features is a minimal braking distance, dynamic acceleration even on slippery roads, reliable and predictable handling with very transparent feedback.
Long Service Life
Like a modern European tire, the Matador MP-47 Hectorra 3 SUV model is characterized by a very long service life, much longer than that of its predecessors. This became possible largely due to the very even distribution of external pressure over the contact patch, as well as the optimal "voidness" of the tread and the stiffness of its elements. This feature minimizes the likelihood of uneven wear and tear, which in turn increases the tire's service life.
Comfort in Every Ride
When creating this tire, the developers paid special attention to ensuring the maximum possible level of acoustic comfort. To this end, a whole range of measures was taken, primarily affecting the tread design. Its shoulder areas from the outside are made in a closed design, which prevents the spread of noise from the central blocks outward. At the same time, they are located with a different pitch relative to each other, which prevents the occurrence of resonant noises and vibrations.
Main Features of the Matador MP-47 Hectorra 3 SUV Model
- high level of safety on wet roads due to the excellent performance of the drainage system, which contains many longitudinal and transverse grooves with high throughput;
- a rigid structure of all tread elements improves directional stability and maneuverability, allows for high-speed cornering, and reduces rolling resistance;
- a long service life due to the optimized distribution of external load over the contact patch, as well as a wear-resistant rubber compound;
- acoustic comfort is improved by the closed design of the shoulder areas from the outside of the tread and the multi-pitch arrangement of tread elements in its central part.
