Modern crossovers have double requirements for tyres: on the one hand, comfort and acoustic peace in city bustle, on the other hand, impeccable directional stability at highway speeds. Massimo Ottima Nova is created for this balance. It's a finely tuned tyre product, where every millimetre of the tread pattern is subordinated to the overall goal — to maximise efficiency while minimising energy loss and noise.
Stability Architecture
The basis of the design is a classic, but deeply optimised road scheme with five longitudinal ribs. The key element is the central solid rib. Unlike interrupted constructions, it has increased stiffness along the entire circumference. This solution performs three tasks at once:
- sensitive connection with the road at speeds over 100 km/h, excluding vehicle "wandering";
- pressure equalisation in the contact patch, thanks to which tread wear occurs evenly across the entire width, not locally in the centre;
- minimisation of rolling resistance — optimises deformation during rotation, which directly affects fuel efficiency.
Water Handling
In the central part of the rib, there are diagonal slits (lamellae). They work like capillary channels: instantly removing the water film from the contact zone, ensuring the maintenance of traction. This gives the driver confidence during emergency braking and prevents hydroplaning.
Handling and Acoustic Comfort
The shoulder zones are made of elongated blocks. They do not "fold" when entering a turn, maintaining stability of grip and precision of reactions to the steering wheel. Also, such a structure acts as a screen, dispersing sound waves arising from the operation of the central elements. The noise does not spread outward, but is dampened in the structure.
Additionally, the tread profile is optimised by the radius of curvature, and the rigid breaker belt prevents deformation during intense manoeuvring, slowing down abrasive wear and extending the tread life.
Key Features of Massimo Ottima Nova:
- applicability to a wide range of modern crossovers used in urban and highway environments;
- the central rib of increased stiffness guarantees impeccable directional stability at high speeds;
- drainage slits actively evacuate water from the contact patch, ensuring reliable grip and a shortened braking distance;
- the shoulder blocks increase stiffness during turns, improve feedback with the steering wheel, and simultaneously act as a noise-reducing screen;
- the balanced rubber compound provides elasticity at summer temperatures, maintaining stable characteristics.
