The Kumho Wintercraft SUV Ice WS51 winter tire is designed for SUVs and crossovers, and is adapted for use on asphalt roads. Compared to the previous model, it has improved traction on wet and icy surfaces, handling precision, and fuel efficiency.
Compared to the previous model, the tread pattern of this tire has been completely redesigned. The central rib, located in the middle, has retained its monolithic structure, but is now slightly narrower. This has allowed for more blocks to be placed in the central part, while also increasing their size. As a result, the number of longitudinal edges has increased, which has positively affected handling precision and directional stability. Another innovation is the large shoulder blocks, which have reduced the risk of lateral skidding. The increased density of the lamellas has made it possible to significantly increase the effectiveness of the tread on icy surfaces, especially when braking.
Key features of the Kumho Wintercraft SUV Ice WS51
- an increased number of longitudinal edges in the central part improves directional stability;
- a solid central rib increases handling precision and reduces rolling resistance;
- enlarged shoulder blocks expand the contact patch, prevent uneven wear and lateral skidding;
- increased lamella density improves ice traction.
