The Kumho CW61 winter tire, designed for minivans, was initially developed for the Japanese market. For this reason, this model has a specific set of operational properties, as their selection is due to the climate of the Land of the Rising Sun. The tire stands out for its high efficiency on icy surfaces and excellent wear resistance.
Short braking distance on slippery roads
The tread pattern features an extremely dense arrangement of narrow slits. The lamella walls are designed in a modern 3D design. The 3-axle orientation of the edges allows the blocks to be rigidly fixed when contacting the road. As a result, the coupling properties when slowing down not only increase but also become very stable. This feature is most pronounced on slippery roads from ice and snow.
Stable behavior in turns
The central part of the tread contains a longitudinal groove of an original Z-shaped design. Due to its configuration, this element has multifunctionality. In addition to drainage, such a groove prevents lateral skidding, which is why the tire shows improved stability when maneuvering.
Resistance to aquaplaning
The shoulder areas and the central part of the tread are separated from each other by wide longitudinal grooves. These elements, due to their impressive size and great depth, perfectly cope with the removal of even significant amounts of water from the contact patch. This achieves high resistance to aquaplaning at almost any speed.
