The Kormoran SUV Stud winter tire was initially designed for SUVs and crossovers, i.e. without using any passenger car model as a "base". The result of this approach was very good operating properties for the given price range. The tire is characterized by excellent traction properties on winter surfaces, stability on asphalt, and fuel efficiency.
V-shaped tread pattern
The tire's tread is designed in a traditional style for such products. Its elements form a V-shaped pattern, which provides increased directional stability and longitudinal traction properties on slippery surfaces. These properties are further enhanced by the increased size of the tread blocks in the central part and the rigid bridges between them.
The shoulder blocks, on the other hand, are arranged at almost a right angle. This significantly improves the tire's ability to drive through deep snow and reduces the braking distance on slippery surfaces.
Several types of lamellas
The tire's tread features several types of lamellas. The central part has straight cuts. Located at a right angle or a slight angle to the direction of movement, they increase the effectiveness of the tread during longitudinal accelerations. On wet asphalt, these elements further improve resistance to aquaplaning, directing water from the contact patch into the drainage grooves.
In the shoulder areas, the lamellas have a wavy shape. This limits the transverse mobility of the blocks. This significantly improves stability during maneuvering. Along the edges of the shoulder blocks, there are longitudinal lamellas. These elements further increase the tire's traction in turns.
Key features of Kormoran SUV Stud
- good traction properties on any winter surface thanks to the optimized V-shaped tread pattern;
- several types of lamellas and studs provide reliable traction on slippery roads covered with snow and ice;
- a reinforced carcass with an additional steel cord gives the tire reliability on poor roads;
- wide drainage grooves effectively prevent aquaplaning and slushplaning.
