Description Kormoran Summer SUV
The Kormoran Summer SUV tire belongs to the High Terrain category, which implies its operation on highways and dirt roads in an 80/20 ratio. This model was developed using Michelin technologies and is produced at the Tigar company's plant. Both Eastern European brands belong to the French tire concern.
Low risk of aquaplaning
Between the tread ribs, there are longitudinal drainage grooves. There are four of them, and the volume of each one, thanks to its large width and depth, is sufficient to efficiently drain a significant amount of water from the contact patch. The drainage system's effectiveness is enhanced by numerous lamellas. They direct water into the longitudinal grooves, effectively drying the contact patch. In real-world operation, these features manifest as a low risk of aquaplaning, even at high speeds.
Tread profile that increases the contact patch
If you look at the tire in a side projection, you can notice the complexity of the shape of its tread. The central part is almost flat, and the shoulder zones are significantly inclined relative to the vertical axis. This design allows the tire, when loaded, to significantly increase the size of the contact patch, making it wider. At the same time, the shape of the tread profile in the shoulder zones makes it almost square. As a result, the pressure on the road surface is reduced, and it does not change over the entire contact patch area. This noticeably reduces the load and mechanical impact on the working surface of the tread, making it much less prone to wear. Additionally, the increased contact patch size has a positive effect on traction and handling.
Excellent reliability
When creating the tire, much attention was paid to ensuring reliability. To achieve this, an additional cord was added to the breaker, made from synthetic materials. This increased the tire's load-carrying capacity and, at the same time, the tread's resistance to punctures and cuts. The sidewalls are protected by numerous vertical ribs. They prevent mechanical damage when coming into contact with curbs and sharp edges of road potholes and bumps.
Fuel efficiency
Even in the version for wheels with a large mounting diameter, this tire is characterized by a small weight. It was possible to reduce it without compromising strength and other operational properties thanks to the widespread use of modern synthetic materials. These materials are used to make even the load-carrying elements of the tire's carcass. Progressive cord winding methods were also used, which feature high thread density. In addition to significant weight reduction, this led to a decrease in tire heating during movement, which further improved fuel efficiency. It is significantly higher than that of most competitors in this price range.
