The development of the Kormoran SnowPro B2 winter tire was handled by the specialists of the Michelin tire concern, which currently owns the rights to this Polish brand. The same technologies and materials used in the models of the French brand are used in its design, which is why the tire has excellent operational characteristics at a relatively low cost.

Tread Design

The tire is equipped with a tread whose design is considered "classic". It is characterized by a V-shape formed by the arrangement of tread elements. All of them are separate blocks. However, they are arranged in such a way that when in contact with the road surface, they form groups of 6 elements each. These elements complement and enhance each other's action.

This property is especially pronounced when starting to move and gaining speed. High longitudinal traction characteristics are provided by the significant length and number of edges formed by the groups of tread blocks.

Lamellas

On surfaces with a low coefficient of friction, the tire's efficiency is ensured by numerous lamellas. Their total number on the tread of most sizes exceeds several thousand. At the same time, all the traction edges formed by them are located at a right angle, which is why they demonstrate maximum efficiency when accelerating and decelerating in the form of high resistance to wheelspin or wheel lock.

A significant density of lamellation was achieved due to the shape of these tread elements. This is a sinusoid that forms numerous protrusions and recesses on the surface of the sidewalls. They limit the transverse mobility of the blocks. Being in a strictly vertical position, they transmit the acceleration forces to the power elements of the tire design much faster when affected by acceleration forces. This, in turn, leads to an increase in handling accuracy and improved traction properties when maneuvering.

Increased Service Life

The mileage before replacement of this tire is significantly higher than that of many competitors. To a large extent, the long service life is ensured by the increased tread depth, which is 9 mm. Another factor is the physical properties of the rubber compound. With excellent elasticity at low temperatures, it has high resistance to wear, which is due to the increased content of "silica" and special polymeric compounds in its composition.

In addition, it is impossible not to note several features in the tread design that have a positive effect on the service life. One of them is the tread profile. Its shape is optimized so that under any road conditions, the contact patch area is maximum, and the distribution of external load is uniform. This significantly reduces the specific pressure and, accordingly, the degree of abrasive impact on the working surface of the tread layer.
