The Kleber Transalp winter light vehicle tire can rightly be considered one of the successful examples of creating an excellent winter tire specifically for small-tonnage commercial vehicles - minibuses, light trucks, and vans. Released by the famous French manufacturer in almost 20 of the most popular sizes, this model is suitable for a huge number of modern commercial vehicle models.
French tire engineers have equipped this model with a zigzag symmetric non-directional tread pattern, which still impresses with the non-triviality of the design. At the same time, the tread pattern unequivocally hints at the universal capabilities of this model. The tread consists of four longitudinal ribs, each of which is a row of separate blocks with a complex polygonal shape. It is the shape and arrangement of the tread blocks that formed the memorable zigzag design of this model.
The polygonal shape of the blocks, due to the numerous edges formed by them, made it possible to ensure excellent traction with slippery surfaces in all directions. In addition, the relatively small distance between the blocks of the Kleber Transalp tire contributes to a more even distribution of the load over the contact patch, which significantly reduces the likelihood of uneven wear. Another advantage of the close arrangement of the tread blocks is the increased contact patch area, which allows the tire to demonstrate good traction on dry surfaces.
It is also impossible not to note the excellent work of the drainage system, which, due to the presence of a large number of longitudinal and transverse grooves, easily copes with the removal of water from the contact patch and also provides excellent self-cleaning of the tread. This feature has significantly increased the tire's ability to overcome sections with deep snow cover.
