The all-season tire Kirov K-155 has been on the Russian market for quite some time, but it still remains one of the most popular models designed for the UAZ "Patriot" off-road vehicle and other cars based on it. It is characterized by balanced characteristics that provide a wide range of applications, including both asphalt roads and dirt roads. The model is produced at a plant owned by the Italian tire giant Pirelli, which has recently modernized it, ensuring high-quality manufacturing.
Efficiency on the highway
Thanks to the tread pattern, the tire demonstrates good performance for the All Terrain category, to which it belongs. This is largely due to the design of the central part, where the blocks are arranged in pairs. This modular design allows its components to work together, enhancing the action of each other on various operational properties of the tire. First and foremost, this concerns the longitudinal traction properties, which are provided by the significant length of the transverse edges, giving the tire stability, especially when accelerating and braking on slippery surfaces. At the same time, the arrangement of blocks at an angle and at a relatively small distance from each other reduces rolling resistance and also prevents the occurrence of low-frequency resonance noises, which improves the acoustic comfort inside the cabin.
Good passability
A significant part of the functionality of the shoulder zones is focused on providing traction properties on dirt and other surfaces with reduced carrying capacity. This part of the tread also contains blocks, but they have significant differences from similar elements in the central part. The key one is the G-shaped form, which, along with special depressions, forms numerous traction edges that allow the tire to confidently handle off-road difficulties. Additionally, this design provides protection for the sidewalls from mechanical damage, which increases the reliability of the tire, thereby increasing its service life, regardless of operating conditions.
Reliable behavior on winter surfaces
The openness of the tread design provides its traction edges, the number of which is sufficient for the tire to demonstrate confident behavior on slippery winter surfaces. It is worth noting the multidirectionality of the arrangement of the block edges, thanks to which high longitudinal traction characteristics are ensured without compromising lateral stability. Additional performance on slippery surfaces is provided by numerous wavy lamellas, which form edges that enhance traction, including by redirecting the water film forming on the icy surface to the nearby drainage grooves.
Main features of the Kirov K-155 tire
- good performance on asphalt roads due to the composite design of the central rib, which improves longitudinal traction and directional stability;
- decent efficiency on dirt and other surfaces with low carrying capacity, ensured by the optimized design of the shoulder zones;
- the open tread design with numerous blocks and lamellas provides the tire with reliable behavior on slippery winter surfaces.
