Directional Tread
Unlike "road" tires with rare elements, here the tread is cut into a large number of individual blocks. From a physical point of view, the contact patches are a clear advantage. Each block works as an independent hook. When rolling, they sequentially enter the snow or ice, creating a continuous traction sequence. The result:
- an expanded contact patch — many blocks evenly distribute the pressure from the car, not allowing the tire to "punch" through the snow crust only with the edges;
- an abundance of hooking edges — their total length in the contact patch is 20-30% higher than that of a classic non-directional tread.
Anti-Skid Geometry
Here, a lamella network with multi-vector directionality is applied, rather than a conventional parallel cut. This solution provides three-dimensional rigidity. On loose snow, the blocks do not change their shape, but work as fixators. Traction remains even when skidding. On ice, the multitude of sharp lamella edges catch onto the micro-irregularities of the ice, and the overall structure prevents lateral skidding. The resistance to skidding is increased dramatically. The same principle works for braking: a short braking distance is a direct consequence of the high density of hooking edges.
Self-Cleaning without Loss of Contact
In this model, the drainage system is formed by numerous inter-block slits that connect into a single system. Their task:
- rapid removal of slush and water — the mixture is squeezed out from under the contact patch in fractions of a second, without having time to form a wedge;
- maintaining the cleanliness of the contact area — the less water between the rubber and the road, the higher the coefficient of adhesion. This is especially important for drivers who operate vehicles in regions with frequent thaws.
Elastomers and Silica
Here, a composition with high-molecular-weight elastomers and silicon-containing components is used. Silica is not simply added for marketing purposes — it creates micro-porosity on the surface of the tire, which increases friction on ice. Elastomers, in turn, are responsible for maintaining elasticity down to -25°C. The result — the compound adapts to the external environment.
