Description Ironman Polar Trax
The Iron Polar Trax winter tire is manufactured by the well-known North American company Hercules. This model is distinguished by its extraordinarily wide range of applications. The size range includes several dozen types, a significant portion of which is designed not only for passenger cars but also for crossovers, minivans, and light trucks.
Directional tread pattern
Despite the fact that the tire's designers chose to equip it with a classic tread pattern featuring a V-shaped design, it incorporates a number of original technical solutions. First and foremost, this includes the presence of a large number of small blocks. Increasing the number of tread blocks allowed for the maximum saturation of the contact patch with numerous sharp edges, arranged in different directions.
The tread blocks of the Ironman Polar Trax are grouped into eight longitudinal ribs, ensuring very high directional stability, especially on winter roads. The central part of the tread features four rows of quadrangular blocks, the long edges of which are positioned at a significant angle relative to the wheel's axis of rotation. Due to this arrangement, the tire's designers were able to achieve improved traction and grip on snow. At the same time, the blocks located in the shoulder areas of the tread are positioned strictly perpendicular to the direction of movement, which significantly improved the effectiveness of braking.
Excellent ice traction
One of the distinctive features of the tread pattern of this tire is the presence of a countless number of wavy lamellas on the surface of each block. These tread elements perform two functions: they provide more reliable traction on ice by forming additional edges, and when driving on cleared asphalt, they improve handling by increasing the stiffness of the blocks.
Key features of the Ironman Polar Trax tire
- A wide size range provides the possibility of application on passenger cars, as well as on crossovers, minivans, and light trucks;
- An optimized V-shaped tread pattern is effective on any winter road surface;
- The multitude of small blocks forms a countless number of sharp edges, ensuring reliable traction with the slippery surface;
- S-shaped lamellas improve handling when driving on dry, cleaned roads, and also provide excellent traction properties on ice due to the formation of multiple additional edges;
- A rubber compound with a high silica content significantly improves traction with slippery surfaces.
