The Heidenau K40 Vintage Motorcycle tire is released in a single size, 2.50 - 18 M/C 45S TT, which significantly limits its applicability. The narrow specialization of this model is partly reflected in its name, where the phrase "Vintage Motorcycle" in practice means that it is designed exclusively for classic motorcycles. In other words, this tire is perfect for motorcycles that were released decades ago, and installing modern models on them would make their appearance less harmonious.
It is for this reason that the German tire manufacturers preferred to use a tread pattern with a classic design. But to offset a number of drawbacks of such a pattern, a number of technical solutions were applied to the tire design, mainly concerning the composition of the rubber mixture and the construction of the carcass. As a result, it was possible to create the Heidenau K40 tire, which looks harmonious on most classic motorcycle models, while providing excellent and reliable handling.
At the same time, the classic tread pattern has also undergone significant changes. In particular, trapezoidal blocks have appeared in the shoulder areas of the tread. Their number speaks of scrupulous calculations carried out at the stage of tire development. The German tire manufacturers sought to provide the tire with excellent stability when cornering, for which it was necessary to maintain high stiffness of this part of the tread. These blocks largely perform the function of drainage, but at the same time form sharp edges that effectively grip the road surface.
The central part of the tread is entirely occupied by four longitudinal ribs, each consisting of massive rectangular blocks. At the same time, two ribs located in the very center of the tread consist of significantly longer blocks. This solution was used by the company's specialists to achieve high directional stability.
