Released worldwide by a renowned South Korean manufacturer, the Hankook Winter I*Pike studded winter tire is designed for small and medium-sized passenger cars. Thanks to its excellent environmental performance, the tire has received the prestigious Swedish award "Nordic Swan".
The tire was produced using petroleum products with a low content of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, which made it possible to radically reduce the level of emissions of carcinogenic toxins.
Thanks to the aggressive design of the directional tread pattern, reminiscent of the Latin letter "V" in its structure, the manufacturer was able to achieve a maximum contact area of the tire, which provided excellent traction and grip on snow. Additionally, such a pattern allows for a significant reduction in braking distance when driving on snowy roads. The central rib of the tire's tread is a solid, uninterrupted zigzag-shaped element that gives the tire low rolling resistance and also contributed to the reduction of noise and vibration levels.
The tread pattern of the Hankook W409 Winter i Pike tire contains many individual blocks that allow the tire to confidently move on unplowed domestic roads. A sufficiently large distance between the blocks perfectly cleans the tread from snow and dirt, and also effectively drains water. Another distinctive feature of this tire is the presence of many wavy lamellas that literally cover the tread. This solution made it possible to significantly improve the tire's grip on slippery surfaces without compromising the stiffness of the main tread elements. For confident movement on icy roads, the tire's tread is equipped with six rows of steel studs.
The tire's rubber compound contains only high-quality materials that provide the tire with excellent operational characteristics. Thanks to the presence of silica in the rubber compound, the tire has excellent grip on any slippery surface. Additionally, the use of special components in the rubber compound made it possible for the tire to retain its elasticity even at very low temperatures. It is also worth noting that the tire has a long service life.
