The studded tire Hankook W419 i*Pike RS is one of the innovations prepared for domestic car enthusiasts by the well-known Korean tire manufacturer. This tire is a logical continuation of another popular model in our country, the W409. Like its predecessor, the new model is designed for the harsh winter conditions of Northern Europe and Scandinavia, which means it is perfectly suited for dealing with Russian realities. Already at the start of sales, the model is offered in several dozen sizes, which allows it to be used on most modern passenger cars.
Inheriting from the previous model, the new tire has a tread with a V-shaped directional symmetric pattern, which, however, has undergone significant changes. In the center of the tread, there is now a more massive longitudinal rib, the high stiffness of which provides excellent directional stability and high maneuverability when driving on winter roads. Two ribs, located next to each other, as before, represent massive separate blocks, which are now located at a more acute angle relative to the direction of movement. This has significantly improved the traction indicators on snow.
The shoulder zones of the Hankook W419 i Pike RS feature two additional rows of separate blocks. Compared to its predecessor, these tread blocks have become significantly larger, and the distance between them has increased significantly.
Another notable innovation is the new rubber compound, which has greater elasticity, which was compensated for by increasing the number of lamellas.
Thanks to the increased number of lamellas, the contact patch has a larger number of edges, which has improved handling characteristics on slippery surfaces. Additionally, the number of studs has increased significantly - now there are over 120, depending on the size, and their arrangement has been optimized for better traction on ice.
