The Hankook RA18 summer light truck tire is one of the latest offerings from the South Korean manufacturer, specifically designed for small-tonnage cargo transportation. In other words, the primary target audience for this model are owners of minivans, light trucks, and vans. In return, they get a tire that stands out for its high load capacity, long service life, and excellent traction, especially on wet roads.
Symmetrical Tread Pattern
Fortunately, the South Korean tire makers preferred not to "reinvent the wheel" and instead opted for proven solutions that have already shown their best side. This model features one of the classic varieties of symmetrical non-directional tread, consisting of two central longitudinal ribs and a pair of shoulder zones. The central part of the Hankook RA18 tread provides reliable traction when driving in a straight line, while the shoulder zones provide stability when maneuvering.
Long Service Life
Since the tire was initially designed for commercial use, particular attention was paid to ensuring a long service life during its development. To achieve this, numerous technical solutions were applied that affected the design of the carcass, the composition of the rubber compound, and, of course, the tread pattern. It was equipped with reinforced shoulder zones, which not only increased the tire's stability in turns but also gave it several essential qualities. Thanks to the high rigidity and massive size of this part of the tread, it was possible to distribute the external pressure on the contact patch much more evenly. As a result, the tire became much better at withstanding the heavy weight of the cargo being transported and also better resisted uneven wear, which significantly reduces its service life.
