The Hankook IW01A Winter i*cept iON winter tire is specifically designed for passenger cars with a "hybrid" or fully electric powertrain. It stands out for its balanced operating properties, demonstrating both traction on any slippery surface, low rolling resistance, and excellent ride comfort.
The tread pattern is designed in a directional style with an increased number of elements. A significant part of the block edges has a V-shaped arrangement, which increases traction and stability on snowy surfaces. The effectiveness of the tire on ice is ensured by the numerous 3D lamellas with serrated edges, as well as a rubber compound that remains elastic even at extremely low temperatures. Moreover, two types of lamellas are used in the tread. In the central part, classic 2D lamellas increase traction, preventing the formation of a continuous water film, and "three-dimensional" cuts on the edges of the tread add stability of grip during longitudinal accelerations. It is worth noting other advantages of the Evolution compound. The combination of a large amount of "silica" and special polymers not only increases the elasticity of the tread but also its thermal conductivity, which positively affects both fuel economy and tire handling.
Another feature of the tire is the profile of its tread. Here, the EV Contour technology is applied. The special shape of the tread profile in combination with the increased stiffness of the cord in the shoulder zones reduces rolling resistance and wear, providing excellent steering accuracy and stability, both when driving in a straight line and when cornering.
