When developing the summer tire GT Radial SportActive, the needs of a fairly specific category of car owners were taken into account. These are those who value sporty-honed handling and reliable traction at high speeds. The design of this model is adapted for use on powerful passenger cars.
One of such measures aimed at ensuring maximum traction at high speeds was the profile shape of the tread. In the central part, it is almost flat, and in the shoulder areas, its radius is such that the contact patch does not change when exposed to multidirectional acceleration forces. The stability of its shapes and sizes gives traction high reliability, and handling - predictability.
The tread pattern of this tire contains a large number of transverse grooves. These elements have a dual functionality. In addition to draining the contact patch when driving on a wet road, they help reduce the braking distance. This happens due to the numerous traction edges formed by the drainage grooves when contacting the road surface.
The shoulder areas of the tread contain massive blocks. Located transversely, these tread elements provide increased stability when maneuvering, preventing skidding, and when slowing down - improved traction, which reduces the braking distance, especially on wet roads.
