The commercial tire GT Radial Kargomax ST-4000 occupies a significant share of its market segment in European countries. Its popularity is due not only to a lower cost compared to many competitors, but also to excellent performance characteristics, primarily reliability and durability.
Applicability
This model is offered in six sizes for wheels with a mounting diameter of 13 or 15 inches. At the same time, the sizes are selected so that the tire is suitable for installation on at least the most popular commercial vehicles.
Tread pattern specifically for commercial vehicles
The development of the tire was carried out "from scratch" and therefore all, without exception, technical solutions used in its design were chosen based on their effectiveness in operation on commercial vehicles. This is clearly visible in the design of the tread, which, although it has a fairly high openness, contains elements of very massive sizes. This made it possible to increase the contact patch area, which, in addition to improving traction, led to an increase in the wear resistance of the tread and the carrying capacity of the tire as a whole. After all, the specific pressure decreased, which led to a corresponding decrease in the degree of abrasive impact on the compound.
Reinforced sidewalls and optimized compound
One of the distinctive features of the tire is its high reliability, which is maintained throughout its entire service life. To ensure this property, Asian tire manufacturers applied a whole complex of technical solutions. In particular, the sidewalls were significantly strengthened with additional cord, and their profile has an elliptical shape, giving the tire increased resistance to impact. Similarly, the characteristics of the tread rubber compound were changed. The components that make up the compound provide high resistance to mechanical damage, preventing punctures and cuts. To a large extent, it is this feature that explains the relatively small tread depth, which is 6-6.4 mm, depending on the size.
Increased service life
The Asian manufacturer used fairly expensive technical solutions in its design. In particular, the tread is divided into two parts. The outer running part, which is in direct contact with the road surface, is made of a rubber compound, more than half of which is silicon-containing components. They give the upper layer of the tread not only elasticity but also resistance to abrasive wear. The inner layer is made of a compound with increased stiffness. The components that make up the mixture provide it with improved thermal conductivity. Together, these properties allow for a significant reduction in rolling resistance, ensure a more even distribution of load over the tread area in contact with the road surface. As a result, not only is fuel consumption reduced, but the service life of the tire is also increased.
