The Goodyear Ultragrip Performance GEN-1 + SCT winter tire is designed for passenger cars. It is characterized by improved traction on any winter roads, high deceleration intensity on slippery surfaces, a long service life, and excellent acoustic comfort.
The SCT abbreviation in the tire's name indicates the use of the SoundComfort technology in its design. A special sound- and vibration-insulating layer made of elastic and porous polyurethane foam is located on the inner side of the tire. It dampens most of the low-frequency noises from friction and tire rolling, absorbing them due to the numerous small voids in the material's structure.
On any winter roads, the tire demonstrates a reduced braking distance. This is due to several factors in the design of its tread pattern. It contains a large number of inclined intersecting drainage grooves. The edges formed by them increase the longitudinal traction on snow. On icy surfaces, the deceleration intensity is provided by numerous wavy lamellas thoughtfully arranged across.
