The Gislaved VanControl Arctic tire is recommended for use in commercial vans, light trucks, and minibuses. It belongs to the so-called "friction" models, differing in the highest efficiency on snowy and wet roads, also offering reduced rolling resistance, increased durability, and an extended service life.
The tread pattern was largely borrowed from the Continental VikingContact model with characteristic rhombus blocks in the central part. Such elements increase the grip properties on snow and wet surfaces, providing good directional stability and handling accuracy. The shoulder areas contain elongated blocks arranged almost at a right angle to the direction of movement. This provides the tire with increased traction and braking intensity, along with coupling stability and handling comfort when maneuvering. It's also worth noting the trapezoidal profile of the shoulder blocks, which enhances the resistance of the elements to deformation, further improving the tire's handling qualities. On the most slippery winter surfaces, the effectiveness of the tire's tread is ensured mainly by the lamellas. Several thousand narrow slits with sinusoidal sharpened edges allow it to effectively grip even the smallest irregularities on the road surface, providing uncompromising control over the vehicle's trajectory. Another important feature of the model can be noted, namely the use of a special rubber compound with a "winter" composition in the manufacture of its tread. It contains a large amount of silicon dioxide, which gives the tire significant elasticity, retaining a significant part of it even at extremely low temperatures. Its resistance to abrasive wear and the formation of cracks and punctures remains at a sufficiently high level to provide the tires with a long service life in the most difficult operating conditions.
