General Tire Altimax UHP

The General-Tire Altimax UHP summer tire, produced by a respected North American manufacturer, is an upgraded version of another successful model, the Altimax HP. This tire is distinguished, first and foremost, by its improved driving characteristics, as evidenced by its higher speed indices – V, W, and Y. Additionally, this model differs from its predecessor in its corrected range of tire sizes, which now caters to larger and more powerful passenger vehicles, ranging from 15 to 19 inches.

Like the Altimax HP tire, this model features an aggressive V-shaped tread pattern consisting of five longitudinal ribs. At the very center of the tread is a very wide double longitudinal rib, which boasts high structural strength. This technical solution allowed the tire to achieve excellent directional stability, making high-speed driving clear and reliable when combined with high maneuverability.

Furthermore, the development of this model by American tire makers incorporated a range of interesting technical solutions. In particular, the TCT technology enabled an astonishing combination of a smooth ride and sporty handling. This was achieved through the use of a tread consisting of two layers with different hardness levels. The soft layer effectively smooths out minor bumps, while the hard layer is designed to reduce the impact of larger bumps, resulting in a remarkably smooth ride.

Another distinctive feature of this tire is the special indicators of uneven wear in the form of grooves located in the shoulder areas of the tread. This solution is a practical result of the Visual Alignment Indicator technology, which allows for the timely identification of tread imbalance.

The next technical solution worthy of attention is the Acoustic Modulation Sound Technology. Thanks to the specially selected configuration and placement of tread blocks, it was possible to significantly reduce the level of resonant noise, thereby ensuring the tire's excellent comfort level.

The rubber compound features a set of high-quality components, including silica (silicon dioxide), which significantly improved the tire's basic operational qualities, particularly its grip on wet surfaces and resistance to wear.

It's also worth noting another technology used in this tire, which had a significant impact on the overall level of safety, especially important for the General Tire Altimax UHP tire, which belongs to the category of ultra-high-performance tires. This refers to the "Reactive Profile" (Reactive Contour Technology) technology. The RCT technology aims to maintain the consistency of the contact patch area size, regardless of the road surface characteristics. This allows for reliable and stable traction in any conditions and at any speed.

The RTM (Replacement Tire Monitor) technology gave the tire the ability to inform the car owner about the need to replace the tire. To do this, a special inscription, "Replacement Tire Monitor," is applied to the surface of the central rib. During operation, when the maximum allowable wear is exceeded, the inscription changes to "Replace Tire," which translates to "Replace the tire" in English.
