When creating the General Tire Altimax Nordic winter passenger tire, its developers drew inspiration from similar tire products from Continental AG. For the end consumer, this is only an advantage, as one of the best models in its segment was chosen as the basis. The technical solutions used in this tire provide it with more than decent operating characteristics.
Asymmetric Tread Pattern
The good traction properties demonstrated by this tire on any winter roads are achieved due to the functional capabilities of the asymmetric tread pattern. It is divided into several sections, each of which is responsible for one or more operating properties. In particular, both shoulder zones of the tread improve traction characteristics when braking and stability when maneuvering. In turn, the inner side of the tread provides maximum efficiency when accelerating, and the wide longitudinal rib on the opposite side provides directional stability at high speed.
Confident Behavior on Ice
This model does not have studs, and there are no places for their installation on its tread. Nevertheless, this does not prevent it from demonstrating confident behavior on icy surfaces. It is provided by several thousand lamellas cut through the entire depth of the tread in all its blocks. During movement, they form a corresponding number of traction edges, which more than compensates for the lack of studs.
Key Features of General Tire Altimax Nordic
- the asymmetric tread is adapted for operation on any winter roads;
- excellent elasticity at low temperatures due to an optimized compound;
- several thousand lamellas provide confident behavior on ice.
