Formula Ice SUV

The development of the winter tire Formula Ice SUV was handled by specialists from the company Pirelli, which established this brand specifically for products manufactured in Russia. This model is designed for crossovers and SUVs used predominantly on asphalt roads. It was created based on the same-name tire for passenger cars. The only difference from it is the size range and some design features, which will be discussed below.

Reinforced carcass and sidewalls

One of them is the design of the carcass and sidewalls. Directly under the tread is a additional breaker cord, and the sidewalls have increased stiffness. These changes allowed to compensate for the increased load that occurs due to the large weight of vehicles with all-wheel drive transmission. Thanks to this, the handling and other operational properties of the tire are in no way different from those shown by the same-name model for passenger cars.

Directional tread pattern

The tire is equipped with a tread with a directional V-shaped design and a solid longitudinal rib in the center. Such a pattern gives the process of driving a car on a slippery road precision and quick response to the driver's actions. In turn, massive shoulder blocks provide directional stability and prevent skidding during maneuvering. And the hexagonal studs installed in them and in the central part improve traction on icy surfaces.
